XR Nottingham Group agreement
Whatsapp Community (and any other chat platforms)
Chats should be healthy, enjoyable and productive. Volunteer admins for all WhatsApp chats within the main XR Nottingham Community group will help to ensure discussions remain within the scope of each chat and follow the guidelines below.
There will be a minimum of 3 active admins for each chat and a minimum of 5 admins for the umbrella community group.
‘Chat burnout’ is a very real thing and this agreement endeavors to create the best environment for us to work together, take action together and build strength and resilience as a community of concerned citizens.
The basics
- Adhere to XR’s Principles & Values
- No spamming
- No racism, sexism, hate speech
- No inappropriate imagery
- Don’t randomly add people to the channel without their consent
- Don’t post the first names or contact details of anyone without their consent
- Be excellent to each other!
Moderation Policies
Chat admins will moderate using the following policies:
One Strike policy
Obviously harmful or spam messages will be deleted and the messenger will be removed from the whatsapp community chat.
Two Strikes policy
Posts that are harmful/destructive in nature (for instance, advocating violence) and posts that breach the Principles & Valueswill fall under a Two Strikes policy. This involves a warning and explanation, with a further overstep resulting in the person being removed from the chat. E.g.
- Racist, sexist, personal or posts of any kind of harassing nature
- Posts that breach the Principles & Values (for instance advocating violence)
Off topic Policy
Off topic posts are reasonably inevitable. However should chatter start around such an off topic post, it can quickly add noise to a channel, and so stress our communication streams. Authors of such posts need to be gently encouraged to take their topic to a more appropriate channel.
