If you want to find out more about the basic demands and principles of XR – there is lots of content on the XR UK website

“If we don’t take action, the collapse of our civilisations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon.”
Sir David Attenborough, Dec 2018

“We already have all the facts and solutions. All we have to do is to wake up and change.”
Greta Thunberg. Dec 2018

“Once climate change becomes a defining issue for financial stability, it may already be too late.” -Former Govenor of the Bank of England,
–
Mark Carney, September 2015

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY

Extinction Rebellion, or XR for short, is an international organisation run by volunteers, who try to prevent the worst from the ongoing climate and ecological crisis. We need emergency action from our governments to safeguard our future.

We are unprepared for the danger our future holds. We face floods, wildfires, extreme weather, crop failure, mass displacement and the breakdown of society. The time for denial is over. It is time to act.

Conventional approaches of voting, lobbying, petitions and protest have failed because powerful political and economic interests prevent change. Our strategy is therefore one of non-violent, disruptive civil disobedience – a rebellion.

XR UK created the initial three demands and all groups can work independently within these principles and values.

about us

XR Nottingham is getting bigger and stronger, but time is short and there is so much to do.

All time and skills are useful from arts to admin, photography to planning, meeting facilitation to cake baking! We need careful organised people, creative people and confident spokespeople. Free training can be accessed for a wide variety of topics and webinars are often offered to broaden our knowledge of climate science, social and racial injustice and much more.

We have a flat hierarchy, everyone takes on tasks voluntarily. This means you can get involved as much or as little as you like. We organise in Working Groups.

Talks, training, events and actions can all be found on the Events page.
