Corporate Courts day of action

If you care about democracy and climate justice, come along to our day of action on Saturday October 17 in Nottingham city centre.
When: 12-2pm Saturday 17 October
Where: Corner of Pelham St & Clumber St, NG1 2ED
Corporate Courts (a system called ISDS) written into international trade deals allows foreign companies to sue governments for taking action to protect human rights, climate justice & the environment. Unbelievable, right?
It’s happening in the UK NOW.Our government is being sued for hundreds of millions for stopping a coal mine in Cumbria on climate grounds. It’s happening all over the world. In Australia, a tobacco giant sued the government over plain packaging on cigarette packets.
For the companies, ISDS is a win-win. If the company can continue to operate unrestrained, it makes large profits. And it is is stopped or regulated it can sue. And still make lots of money. We, the taxpayers, are the losers.
Come along and help:
- with outreach
- dress as a corporation (in a suit)
- hold banners
Join us and local groups from Global Justice Now, Friends of the Earth, Amnesty and Greenpeace to find out more and demand that our government withdraws from the ISDS system.
