Beyond Politics Working Group on tour!
March 12, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Some people from XR Nottingham’s Beyond Politics group attending an event – feel free to come along too….
(This is not an XR Nottingham organised Event)
It is the national launch of the Green New Deal here in Nottingham on Thursday evening.
Caroline Lucas and Clive Lewis are co-chairs of the Parliamentary Green New Deal Group and are keen to get wide ranging input from the community as part of their ‘national inquiry’ into how best to achieve the transition to zero carbon. They will be joined by Sally Longford, deputy leader of Nottingham City council.
It is therefore an ideal opportunity to listen, scrutinize and ask questions.
We’re hoping to get as many XRN members as possible to come along and learn about this critical new economic model. We could go to a cafe or pub afterwards to discuss what gets announced at this meeting!

The Beyond Politics working group is involved in the Divestment campaign, engagement with local authorities to achieve transition to zero carbon and the organisation of a Citizens Assembly for Nottingham to decide possible solutions to the climate & ecological emergency, It is ‘Beyond’ politics in that it is independent of party politics whilst still taking into account and engaging with the political processes nationally and locally.
