DESCRIPTION:Come along and help Nottingham XR create an impossible-to-ignore spectacle along Nottingham’s busiest shopping street. \nOur goal is to convince people that the Climate and Environmental Emergency is the NUMBER 1 issue for all of us in the coming election. \nMeet at Trinity Square at 10.30 am\, we will run the action until about 2pm\, (depending on weather/ spirits/ energy/ reception etc) followed by de-brief somewhere warm. \nWe’ll need some people willing to dress up in protective suits and climb up a ladder and lots of others to spread our message among passing shoppers. \nThis is a safe\, non-arrestable\, non-disruptive event.

DESCRIPTION:Climate change is often in the news. But just how bad are things really? And what can we do about it? A local talk for Nottinghamshire. \nThe planet is in ecological crisis. We are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event this planet has experienced. \nScientists believe we may have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown. This is an unprecedented global emergency. Our children and our nation face grave risk. \nIn this public talk for Nottinghamshire\, local members of Extinction Rebellion will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading\, discuss some of the current psychology around climate change\, and offer solutions through the study of social movements. \nAll ages are welcome and encouraged to attend\, but places are limited on a first-come-first-served basis. \nTo ensure your place\, please book through Eventbrite – click here – no need to print paper copy.\nDue to the content of the talk\, parental discretion is advised if bringing along young children. \nThis event aims to:\nraise awareness of and tell the truth about the current environmental crisis;\narm local people with facts they can share with neighbours\, friends and family;\nconsider what we can do about this in Nottinghamshire. \nThere will be time to ask questions and discuss afterwards.
