We need a regenerative culture\nCreating a culture which is healthy\, resilient and adaptable. \n4. We openly challenge ourselves and our toxic system\nLeaving our comfort zones to take action for change. \n5. We value reflecting and learning\nFollowing a cycle of action\, reflection\, learning\, and planning for more action. Learning from other movements and contexts as well as our own experiences. \n6. We welcome everyone and every part of everyone\nWorking actively to create safer and more accessible spaces. \n7. We actively mitigate for power\nBreaking down hierarchies of power for more equitable participation. \n8. We avoid blaming and shaming\nWe live in a toxic system\, but no one individual is to blame. \n9. We are a non-violent network\nUsing non-violent strategy and tactics as the most effective way to bring about change. \n10. SUMMARY:Doing Hope Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A small group workshop to help support the emotional response to the climate and ecological crisis. \nThe workshop is being held in Beeston\, Nottingham and tickets are available on EVENTBRITE \n“Of all the dangers we face\, from climate chaos to nuclear war\, none is so great as the deadening of our response.” Joanna Macy\nIn the face of overwhelming social and ecological crises\, “The Work That Reconnects” helps people transform despair and apathy into constructive\, collaborative action. It brings a new way of seeing ourselves within the world as our larger living body. \nThis perspective encourages us to question the assumptions and attitudes that now threaten the continuity of life on Earth. We can choose to align with business as usual which is threatening so many living systems\, or adapt to a life-sustaining society. The latter takes work\, and sometimes the challenges can feel overwhelming. \nDoing Hope is an experiential workshop developed by Clare Bonetree\, inspired by Joanna Macy’s “The Work that Reconnects” and is informed by trauma recovery work. \nLed by experienced group facilitators Jessie Cooke and Ian Coleman\, the workshop is based on Joanna Macy’s Active Hope Spiral that includes four stages: \n\ngrounding in gratitude\nacknowledging what grieves us and brings us low\nfinding a new way to see through a lens of hope\ncommitting to go out into the world renewed\n\nMost importantly\, we do this together. \nThe workshop is being held in Beeston\, Nottingham and tickets are available on EVENTBRITE

SUMMARY:Introductory Talk - Heading For Extinction (and what to do about it)
DESCRIPTION:Open to anyone that is interested\, fearful or wants to be more informed about the climate and ecological crisis that the planet is facing. The information will be delivered as a talk with time for questions at the end. \n7pm on Wednesday 15th January on Mansfield Road at the YMCA international community centre. NG1 3FN.  Refreshments available. \nTickets Here : Entry is free (donations welcome to cover cost of venue hire) and you can just turn up on the night\, but to give us an idea of numbers\, please register you interest on the eventbrite link. \nThis event aims to:\n– raise awareness of and tell the truth about the current environmental crisis\n– arm local people with facts they can share with neighbours\, friends and family\n– consider what we can do about this in Nottinghamshire \nClimate change is often in the news. But just how bad are things really? And what can we do about it? \nThe planet is in ecological crisis. We are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event this planet has experienced. \nScientists believe we may have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown. This is an unprecedented global emergency. Our children and our nation face grave risk. \nMembers of Extinction Rebellion Nottingham will share the latest climate science and talk about where our planet is heading. We will discuss some of the current psychology around climate change\, and offer solutions through the study of social movements. \nAll ages are welcome and encouraged to attend\, but due to the content of the talk\, parental discretion is advised if bringing along young children. \n***Please note this event is independently-funded and organised for Nottinghamshire citizens\, with speakers from Extinction Rebellion (a climate activism movement and pressure group). Contact the Event Organiser if you would like further info or clarification.***

The information will be delivered as a talk with time for questions at the end. \n7.30pm on Tuesday 14th January Farr Hall\, All Hallows Church\, Pierrepont Road\, Lady Bay NG2 5BP\nFree Entry\, refreshments available. \nThis talk includes discussion of worst case scenarios if urgen action is not taken\, It is therefore recommended for a 16+ audience. \n***Please note this event is independently-funded and organised for Nottinghamshire citizens\, with speakers from Extinction Rebellion (a climate activism movement and pressure group). Contact the email hidden; JavaScript is required if you would like further info or clarification.***

\n6. \n10. SUMMARY:Full Moon Meditation and Ceremony (Election Night)
DESCRIPTION:Join us after completing your ‘One Vote! One Planet! \n6.30pm Meditation & Ceremony \n· To honour our ‘One Planet’ and charge up our ‘One Vote’ in response to climate & ecological emergency \n· To send good energy to where it’s needed ‘on behalf of life’ and for the best outcome for a government fit for purpose who will respond most effectively to this need. \n7.30pm shared meal and relaxation. \nSome hot vegan food provided but please bring any vegan food offerings to share. \nFull Moon Fire will be lit outside after indoor meditation ceremony. Those who want to can join us under the moonlight\, sharing songs\, poems\, blessings\, or remain inside. We will have a minutes silence on each hour until the gathering closes\, sending good energy in line with our intentions for the evening as noted above. \nIn full moonlight we meet our reflection. It’s illumination calls us to a deeper conversation with what gives us and all beings life\, to make choices in service of this. We meet at a time of composting darkness\, close to the stillness of Winter Solstice\, the frenetic consumer xmas culture\, campaign circus\, Brexit and colossal climate chaos are counter energies and are exposed under the full moon . Courage is required to act outside of the circus. An emergency pause for conscious choices\, especially how we use our one vote for our one planet. \nThe clear guidance is mirrored in nature right now . A need in the darkest time to create sacred conditions for the germination of whatever is to come\, known and unknown. Our seed needs this dark time. We are required to fully open our senses\, especially our ears to the urgent calls around us. This can be ‘heard’ in; The cries of our soil – To be fully human is to acknowledge the robustness of the root of our birthright to keep us and all species alive; Human= ‘humus’= ‘of the soil’; The cries of our Air – the health of which makes up our shared same breath; The cries of the Water that makes up 65% of our body; and that of our larger Earth body\, and cannot be compromised for survival. Sacred ritual and ceremony starkly reminds us we are one breath\, one earth\, one water and our choices must reflect this sanctity for all species here and beyond the borders of Britain. Its structure helps us connect to ourselves\, community\, our true history\, and to both the light and dark aspects of our humanity.. \nPeople fear what will happen in 2020. “Where there’s fear\, there’s power.” Be brave. Be vulnerable. Come and reclaim our shared power and life-force. \nFree event. Any donations to Sumac for room hire are welcome.
