DESCRIPTION:Parliament-as-usual is killing the planet. \nThe people of the UK are fed up with the government’s failure to act on the climate and ecological emergency. The Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill (CEE Bill)\, is the only concrete plan available to address this crisis\, and so on their first day back in Parliament\, we demand our elected officials Act Now and embrace this legislation. It’s time they represented their constituents\, not dirty polluting lobbyists!  \nYoung people will take the lead at the start of the Rebellion\, with representatives from Extinction Rebellion Youth UK\, XR Families\, Fridays for Future\, UK Student Climate Network\, Culture Declares Emergency and allied movements leading the four marches to Parliament Square\, where they will read out their Letter to Power.  \nThis youth Letter to Power will highlight important aspects of the CEE Bill\, educating rebels and the public about the legislation\, combined with the urgency of young voices demanding that those in Parliament act to protect their futures.  \nMPs will be invited to engage with the young and to back the Bill. And rebels will choose to sit in the streets – overnight if necessary – to maintain a constant presence and pressure until our voices are truly heard. We will call on every Parliamentarian to come outside and hear what we have to say. \nWE WILL SIT OUTSIDE UNTIL THEY ACT. \nGuest speakers will be attending throughout the day to engage with youth and rebels on the importance of the Bill and all are invited to write and speak their own ‘Letter to Power’ throughout the day. It will begin as an inclusive and non-arrestable low-risk action\, and over time\, as we continue to sit in the road\, the police may decide to remove those of us who stay after having been warned to leave. \nThis is a socially distant action; all participants are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings and stand 1 metre apart. When sitting in the road\, hexagons drawn on the road will separate people. \nThis action becomes higher risk if a Section 14 order is applied\, which may not happen for the first 48 hours or more. DESCRIPTION:We are at an intersection of global crises. Climate\, COVID-19\, racial injustice – all are symptoms of a toxic system that is driving us to extinction. \nWe cannot carry on like this. The system is killing us. \nFacebook Event  \nWE WANT TO LIVE.\nThe Government is failing to do what’s needed to keep us safe. They ignored the warnings about coronavirus and now they’re ignoring warnings of a 4˚C world from their official Committee on Climate Change\, a warning that could result in billions of deaths – with racially marginalised communities\, and those in the Global South on the front line. \nEnough’s enough. We have an opportunity NOW as we emerge from the pandemic to make necessary change\, but business-as-usual is fighting to regain its hold. We can’t let that happen! \nBeginning on 1st September\, Extinction Rebellion will return. On that day the UK parliament starts re-sitting after the summer: but we’re not going to let them back in until they agree to start anew with justice\, care and life at the heart of it. From the 1st we will peacefully blockade the UK Parliament in London until they promise that the first thing they’ll do is to pass our three demands into law. The Rebellion will not just be focused on London though. Welsh Rebels will join us in rebellion by causing disruption in Cardiff\, with rebels in the North and Scotland formulating plans as we speak. SUMMARY:Midlands HS2 Rebellion

This will be mass participatory and family-friendly event. \nAfter some rabble-rousing speeches we’ll form a funeral march to the HS2 headquarters (normally a 15 min walk– but we’ll slow march) where we’ll hold a die-in. Rebels are invited to dress either as an animal/tree/flower threatened by HS2 destruction or in funeral attire. (Black arm bands available for those who don’t want to dress up). We’ll make quite a sight at the die-in! \nAfter a eulogy for the lost ecology\, we will return to Eastside park for an Arts Picnic. Bring your own lunch and join us for some creative rebelling\, the fruits of which we will plaster over the walls surrounding the HS2 construction site. \nHS2 is a vanity project which will cost over £100 billion to shave just a few minutes off journey times between London and Birmingham. Tickets will cost over £250. Ancient woodlands along the length of the line are being decimated and it will not be carbon neutral until well into the next century. During this global pandemic our money should be funding the NHS and transforming our transport away from carbon-intense infrastructure projects. DESCRIPTION:Join Our Future Now and Global Justice Rebellion for this Zoom call where we learn about climate justice in an interactive workshop.\n*Zoom link will be sent out to those who have registered on the eventbrite link \n\n‘Climate justice’ has become a buzzword in the climate movement. But what does it really mean?\nIn this workshop we will be exploring this question while looking at why the climate movement must take into account how our economic system created and perpetuates climate change. We will understand why those who are least responsible for climate change are suffering the gravest consequences.\n\nBut we will also look at how people are fighting back by demanding social and economic justice and how we can all stand together to fight for climate justice for everyone. \n\nThe coronavirus has put a strain on healthcare and food systems. The pandemic has shown us that in moments of real crisis\, we can marshal extraordinary resources to solve problems facing society. It has also shown that if we aren’t careful\, the costs of fighting a crisis may fall on the least prepared or responsible\, whilst the wealthy get bailouts. When this crisis subsides\, we will still have another to deal with – the climate crisis. We need climate justice now more than ever.\n\nAccessibility is very important to us. This is an essential role in keeping people safe during an action\, and to provide ongoing support to our arrestees post actions. The Back Office receives calls from rebels who have been arrested and from people who have witnessed an arrest by logging the information and communicating with the Police Station Support Coordinators so that Police Station Support can be organised for when rebels are released from custody. \nIf you want to get involved in the Back Offices for the Rebellion\, then this training is key! \nIf you can’t attend an action in person then volunteering for the Back Office would mean you’re an integral part of the action by working remotely from your own home. This is an essential role in keeping people safe during an action\, and to provide ongoing support to our arrestees post actions. The Back Office receives calls from rebels who have been arrested and from people who have witnessed an arrest by logging the information and communicating with the Police Station Support Coordinators so that Police Station Support can be organised for when rebels are released from custody. \nIf you want to get involved in the Back Offices for the Rebellion\, then this training is key! \nIf you can’t attend an action in person then volunteering for the Back Office would mean you’re an integral part of the action by working remotely from your own home. But what does it really mean? \nIn this workshop we will be exploring this question while looking at why the climate movement must take into account how our economic system created and perpetuates climate change. We will understand why those who are least responsible for climate change are suffering the gravest consequences. \nBut we will also look at how people are fighting back by demanding social and economic justice and how we can all stand together to fight for climate justice for everyone. \nThe coronavirus has put a strain on healthcare and food systems. The pandemic has shown us that in moments of real crisis\, we can marshal extraordinary resources to solve problems facing society. It has also shown that if we aren’t careful\, the costs of fighting a crisis may fall on the least prepared or responsible\, whilst the wealthy get bailouts. When this crisis subsides\, we will still have another to deal with – the climate crisis. We need climate justice now more than ever. \nAccessibility is very important to us.
