DESCRIPTION:Sunday September 14th at the Arboretum – unfortunately due to some shocking last minute instructions from the insurance company for the event\, not ‘political’ (whatever that means!) stall can take part this year. \nThis means XR Nottingham will not have an official presence at the festival for the first year in a very long time. \nWe have every sympathy with the organisers of this event and they have been put in a ridiculous situation which is no fault of their own. We encourage you to still attend the event for the sake of all the other participants – particularly the performers and food stalls.

DESCRIPTION:Come and help with a performance action called the Burning Ballroom! \nJune 28th 11am – 1pm\nMeet at the Robin Hood Statue for a practice.\nThere are four roles which require people to stand still.\n10-20 ‘dancers’ – no experience or skill necessary!! \nThe most important thing is for everyone to wear plain black clothing. \nAdditional people can help talk to the public and hand out flyers. \nSpare a couple of hours and join us as we take this impactful\, enjoyable street action out around the City Centre. \nSome keen rebel volunteers have been working hard on new banners to hold around the edge of the ‘ballroom’\, we have a new PA to amplify the music. So this is going to look and sound fabulous! Don’t miss out. \nThere’s still a climate emergency and it’s time to get that message back out there. \nThis is an easy way to get involved in a bit of ‘creative disruption’. It’s really effective at getting people’s attention and opening up conversations. Here’s a video from when we took this action to London (filmed on Horse Guards Parade and Trafalgar Square).

DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the next XR Nottingham gathering: “Earth Overshoot Day” \nSaturday 17th May\n3-5pm @ Meet at The Buddhist Centre\, St Mary’s Place \nJoin us for an afternoon of placard making and action planning before heading out to the streets for a pop-up action! \nWe’ll warn people ‘don’t shoot the planet’. \nAll welcome including children\, we’ll be processing around Hockley and the city centre before heading back to the Buddhist centre for a debrief and chat. \nWhere green if you like to fit in with a bit of a Robin Hood theme. \nEarth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for natural resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that same year. In 2025\, the UK’s Earth Overshoot Day falls on May 20th\, which is earlier than the global average\, indicating that the UK consumes resources at a much higher rate than the global average.

He wrote about many issues including racism\, injustice\, poverty and also the climate and nature crisis. \nListen to some of his words – a poem of a future vision for the planet.
