DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the next XR Nottingham gathering: “Earth Overshoot Day” \nSaturday 17th May\n3-5pm @ Meet at The Buddhist Centre\, St Mary’s Place \nJoin us for an afternoon of placard making and action planning before heading out to the streets for a pop-up action! \nWe’ll warn people ‘don’t shoot the planet’. \nAll welcome including children\, we’ll be processing around Hockley and the city centre before heading back to the Buddhist centre for a debrief and chat. \nWhere green if you like to fit in with a bit of a Robin Hood theme. \nEarth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for natural resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that same year. In 2025\, the UK’s Earth Overshoot Day falls on May 20th\, which is earlier than the global average\, indicating that the UK consumes resources at a much higher rate than the global average.

He wrote about many issues including racism\, injustice\, poverty and also the climate and nature crisis. \nListen to some of his words – a poem of a future vision for the planet.

DESCRIPTION:The 10 Principles and Values are at the heart of XR – distinctive\, inspiring and challenging- and setting XR apart from other environmental groups. However in the busyness and urgency of climate activism\, these Principles and Values often slip into the background. \nWhether you are quite new to XR or a seasoned rebel\, we invite you to take the space together to explore and deepen our understanding of the Principles and Values. Looking at how we bring them into our lives\, our local groups and our actions. \nThe workshop will be facilitated by Bee (XR South Lakes)\, and Karunavaca (XR Nottingham). We will have plenty of time for a relaxed and in depth discussion and plenty of tea-breaks! \nRESERVE YOUR PLACE ON THE WORKSHOP HERE \nOpen to all in the Midlands and beyond. \nHot drinks available and if you can\, please be bring vegan food to share.\nThis event is being held at:\nNottingham Buddhist Centre\, 9 St Mary’s Pl\, Nottingham NG1 1PH \nThe event is free to attend\, but donations are welcome to help cover the costs of using the room.

DESCRIPTION:Axe Drax protest this Friday12.30-2pm\nMeet at the ‘Standing in Place’ statue – Green Heart Park\, near the new library.\nThe government has made the terrible decision to keep subsidising Drax power station! Currently set at £2 million a day. Drax burns wood\, including from trees shipped across the Atlantic from ecologically rich Canadian forests and pretends to be ‘renewable’.\nJoin us for a pop-up action at lunchtime on Friday. \nWe’ll have flags and placards at the ready\, plus a briefing to help you chat to passers by\, just come along to help and support.
