SUMMARY:Climate Camp Scotland
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the ‘Ende Gelande’ mass actions in Germany\, Climate Camp Scotland will be a great opportunity to take peaceful direct action against a fossil-fueled monster\, Ineos. It is organised by a coalition of many organisations\, including XR Scotland. \nWhere: Grangemouth\, Scotland. Exact location TBC nearer the time. \nWhat: Direct Action and training\, targeting fossil fuel infrastructure. \nCamping for the full period\, with limited space available with Rebel hosts in Stirling for those who cannot camp.\nWe regularly target power in Westminster\, but Scotland is by far the biggest fossil fuel producing part of the UK. Lets take our demands to their doorstep! \nWe hope to coordinate car sharing so that as many people can travel as easily as possible\, or coordinate travelling by train and bus together. \nYou will need to bring camping equipment\, but not cooking equipment. \nJoin the Climate Camp Signal Broadcast to get more info: http://bit.ly/ccs22broadcast \nJoin the ‘Midlands go to Climate Camp’ Signal to coordinate travel and camping logistics: https://xrb.link/g5Ppt0llz9  \nSign up to show your interest and get emails about the camp: http://bit.ly/climate_camp_sign_up

SUMMARY:Storytelling Performance : A Team Assembles
DESCRIPTION:7.30pm Saturday 10th June\nCity Arts\, Hockley\, NG1 1FH\n\nBy donation to XR Nottingham\nShakespeare & Co. go looking for answers\, ending up in an Indian jungle to visit a great sage. Who would have guessed they’d meet Beatrix Potter\, Nikola Tesla and Mowgli along the way? \nJoin us for this one-man ecostorytelling about the quest we’re all on. It’s a positive vision of hope to hold on to\, with resources to take away and a little bit of food! \nDan is trained in acting with an MA in theatre facilitation. He believes art and story can have strong\, far-reaching impacts\, especially on feelings and to convey messages. He believes art holds more of the answers than we think. \nDan is attracted to how creative XR is on balance with other pressure groups and how open it is to new ideas. He’s asking for all donations for this performance to go to XR Nottingham. \nNo need to book\, just turn up on the night!

SUMMARY:Film Preview : My Rebellion
DESCRIPTION:Film : My Extinction (80min) \nBe one of the first people to see this film!\nWe can meet in the Broadway cafe afterwards for a chat too! \n\nTickets : https://www.broadway.org.uk/whats-on/preview-my-extinction\n\nWhat does it take for us to act on the climate crisis – especially if we’re the kind of person who should already be acting? In this funny\, relatable portrait\, a concerned yet ineffectual dad finds the first step is letting those unbearable feelings of climate anxiety in\, instead of pushing them aside.\nBut as he meets others like him\, he discovers how oil-backed propagandists funded our denial and paralysis. He sets out to unmask the vested interests responsible\, helping raise a generation’s leading authors in a vibrant chorus.\n\nScreening as part of the Green Hustle festival\, a celebration of life\, nature\, community action and creativity.\nTickets : https://www.broadway.org.uk/whats-on/preview-my-extinction

SUMMARY:Talk : Insect declines and pesticides
DESCRIPTION:Come to a free talk with Q&A by Professor Dave Goulson on why neonicotinoids are disastrous for bees and pollinators. \nTue May 9th 8-9pm on zoom\n>> Register here <<\n\nThe UK government has allowed the emergency use of banned neonicotinoid pesticides in England for the third consecutive year. \nThese chemicals are responsible for impairing bee learning and memory—which affects a bee colony’s ability to forage for food. Worse still\, the pesticides also get into the pollen and nectar\, which the bees then carry back and expose to the whole hive.\nBirds that consume small doses have also been found to lose weight and suffer delays in their migration. \nLearn about campaigns in your area and some of the actions you can take locally to stand up for our pollinators and the intricate web of life on which we all depend. \nMay 20th WORLD BEE DAY action in Newark\n\nDave Goulson is Professor of Biology at University of Sussex\, specializing in bee ecology. He has published more than 300 scientific articles on the ecology and conservation of bumblebees and other insects. He is the author of Bumblebees; Their Behaviour\, Ecology and Conservation\, and of the Sunday Times bestseller A Sting in the Tale\, a popular science book about bumble bees\, translated into seventeen languages. Silent Earth\, his latest\, book was published in August 2021.
