Truth Trial – Stop Hs2 (North)

June 26, 2021 @ 9:00 am - July 3, 2021 @ 12:00 pm

🚄  What is HS2?
HS2 is a high speed train line intended to offer a faster connection between London, Birmingham and Leeds. HS2 is destroying natural reserves, polluting water systems, making people homeless and is estimated to cost more than £150 billion to the British taxpayer – yet the British public were never asked. Whilst our national debt increases, our health system is underfunded and the fate of the natural world hangs in the balance HS2 will never be justified.

💚 What is the Truth Trail?
The Truth Trail is a walking journey through the areas due to be impacted by Phase 2a & 2b of HS2’s development. The aim of this trail is to share the truth about HS2, envisioning together a secure future for our homes, landscapes and communities.
The trail will provide a safe space for us to share our thoughts, concerns and questions about HS2, as well as to reflect and record stories about the homes and landscapes this project intends to destroy. Learning, conversation and collaboration will be delivered through a diverse week-long program of talks, workshops, performance, art, music, dining and more. Creative outreach activities will be facilitate by the environmental arts collective @Undergrowthartcollective.

Please note the program of the trail is being continually updated – please follow this event for further information and register your interest in joining the Truth Trail

⏰ When and Where is the Truth Trail?
From Saturday 26th June – Saturday 3rd July 2021 a wide range of concerned people from all walks of life will spend 7 days walking from Lichfield – Wigan, following the proposed route of HS2 Phase 2a & 2b. Meanwhile, a group of artists, musicians and environmentalists will be following the walking group to raise awareness of HS2 and support communities along the trail, stopping at designated locations each day.
The proposed route will take us through:
Lichfield – Rugeley – Stafford – Stone – Madeley – Crewe – Middlewich – Glazebrook – Wigan
Daily walks are expected to be between 13-15 miles long, but need not be walked in full. Please join the trail for as little, or as long as you would like to. A list of public transport options along the route will be published here shortly. For more information and to view our interactive daily route maps

🥁 How do I get involved?
You are all invited to join the trail and creative activities along the route for a morning, a full day, part time, or the entire time. This is a family friendly event and enthusiastically open to everyone. This is your trail.
Join us to design and take action towards a shared future – in which our communities, landscapes and futures are respected and protected, for good. Along the route we will be sharing talks, workshops and meals fuelled by art, music and education to openly discuss the HS2 project, how it is set to impact our lives and what we can do to stop destruction in its tracks.
