March 29, 2021 @ 7:45 pm - 9:15 pm

Non-Violent Direct Action Training
with Jeannie from XR Nottingham

Split into bite-sized chunks!

👉Part One (part two will follow at a later date)

Discover what NVDA is all about, why XR choose this method of action.
Find out about how you personally feel about taking part.

This interactive training is essential for all members of XR. It will help you understand the history of Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA) across the world and how its benefits for change have been analysed to help build up an effective strategy for change today.

The training explores through discussion what is meant by “non violent” actions and how they might be enacted against people or property . It also looks at how non violent actions can be taken in creative ways to make a greater impact whilst portraying a non-violent image .

De-escalation skills will be taught to help rebels learn the essential skill of diffusing tensions whilst on actions.
The importance of forming affinity groups will be explored. This is where people are assigned different roles, and help look out for each other on actions.

You will also be signposted on to further vital training for rebels – with the key ones being “know your rights” and “affinity group formation” workshops.

The part 2 NVDA session which follows on a different date, moves on to show how non-violent direct action skills can be developed to help rebels during street actions.
