Deep Water – Welcome Meeting to the Flooding Project

February 20, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

If you missed our first DEEP WATER presentation this is for you. The presentation has been finely tuned but similar to the first DEEP WATER event. Organised by a Midlands-wide team.
__________

🌊 This is the first meeting of a project meant to highlight the Government’s failure to respond to the real and present danger of ever-increasing severe and frequent flooding due to climate change.

🌊 Our dual aims are to Tell The Truth and demand that the Government Acts Now.

🌊 The Deep Water Project will include:
β€’ An awareness-raising and action planning webinar
β€’ Public and virtual events and actions.
β€’ Awareness raising in the media
β€’ Demands for action by national and local politicians
β€’ Collaboration with local flood action groups and other environmental groups
β€’ Outreach and increasing membership
β€’ Promotion of the CEE Bill

ABOUT FLOODING

🌊 Just cast your mind back over the last few winters for examples of devastating floods … Stratford upon Avon, Wainfleet, Ironbridge, Hull, Worcester, Hereford, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Ilkeston, Loughborough to name a but few.

🌊 These life-threatening, extreme weather events can be due to sea-level rise, flash flooding, river flooding and reservoir collapse. The root cause is global heating. And the consequences are devastating for individuals, communities and the natural world.
